Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with design from the beginning of a season to understand aesthetic and source appropriately.
  • Work with Senior Raw Materials Manager to develop and source fabrics that are brand right, while maintaining pricing structure.
  • Negotiate fabric prices and provide alternate fabric options when selections are above margin goal.
  • Coordinate with production team to ensure visibility on cost and lead-time implications prior to bulk.
  • Partner with cross-functional team members to identify key fabrics for potential fabric consolidation opportunities.
  • Communicate consistently with fabric mills and cross-functional partners on fabric development and related issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with fabric suppliers and garment vendors to ensure successful partnerships.
  • Position greige and mid-spec yardage each season for SMS and fit samples.
  • Responsible for QA fabric approvals.
  • Adhere to T&A calendar to ensure all development and testing deadlines are met.
  • Identify and stay abreast of aesthetic fabric trends and new technologies in textiles and finishes.
  • Attend key trade shows in New York & Europe and travel to overseas mills
  • Build and maintain seasonal fabric charts.
  • Maintain and update fabric library.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Degree in Textile Design or Textile Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience working with woven and knit fabrics, and yarn development.

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PLM, Illustrator and Photoshop).
  • Time Management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • ­­­Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to details.
